<p><b>Pascal Laugier</b> (* <a href="16._Oktober" title="16. Oktober">16. Oktober</a> <a href="1971" title="1971">1971</a> in <a href="Vallauris" title="Vallauris">Vallauris</a>) ist ein französischer <a href="Drehbuchautor" title="Drehbuchautor">Drehbuchautor</a> und <a href="Filmregisseur" title="Filmregisseur">Filmregisseur</a>, mit dem Schwerpunkt auf Horrorproduktionen.

<p> Laugier wuchs mit einem älteren Bruder auf. Nach eigenen Angaben Laugiers gilt <a href="Stephen_King" title="Stephen King">Stephen King</a> als prägender Einfluss; dessen Beschäftigung mit dem Horrorgenre habe ihn bei seiner Arbeit als Regisseur innerhalb der vergleichsweise randständigen französischen Horrorfilmtradition unterstützt. Er betrachtete das Horrorgenre als provokativ und kritisierte die amerikanische Filmindustrie dafür, es häufig zu stark zu glätten und damit zu konventionell zu gestalten.<sup id="cite_ref-1" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-1"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>1<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Seinen ersten Spielfilm inszenierte er mit dem 2004 veröffentlichten Horrorfilm <i>Saint Ange – Haus der Stimmen</i>. Mit <i><a href="Martyrs" title="Martyrs">Martyrs</a></i> legte er 2008 einen umstrittenen Horrorfilm vor, für den er auf verschiedenen Filmfestivals auch ausgezeichnet wurde, so beim <a href="Sitges_Festival_Internacional_de_Cinema_Fant%C3%A0stic_de_Catalunya" title="Sitges Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantàstic de Catalunya">Sitges Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantàstic de Catalunya</a>. Im gleichen Jahr wurde er mit der Inszenierung der Neuverfilmung von <i><a href="Hellraiser_%E2%80%93_Das_Tor_zur_H%C3%B6lle" title="Hellraiser – Das Tor zur Hölle">Hellraiser – Das Tor zur Hölle</a></i> (1987) in Verbindung gebracht,<sup id="cite_ref-2" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-2"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>2<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> was jedoch im Folgejahr auf Grund von Meinungsverschiedenheiten mit den Produzenten nicht zustande kam.<sup id="cite_ref-moria_3-0" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-moria-3"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>3<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>

</p><p>Es folgte 2012 der Horrorthriller <i><a href="The_Tall_Man_%E2%80%93_Angst_hat_viele_Gesichter" title="The Tall Man – Angst hat viele Gesichter">The Tall Man – Angst hat viele Gesichter</a></i> mit <a href="Jessica_Biel" title="Jessica Biel">Jessica Biel</a>.<sup id="cite_ref-4" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-4"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>4<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Danach arbeitete er auch für das Fernsehen. Für die Drehbücher seiner Filme zeichnet Laugier selbst verantwortlich.

</p><p>Während der Dreharbeiten zu <i>Ghostland</i> kam es zu einem Unfall am Set, bei dem die Schauspielerin <a href="Taylor_Hickson" title="Taylor Hickson">Taylor Hickson</a> verletzt wurde. In der Folge wurde die Produktionsfirma Incident Productions rechtlich belangt.<sup id="cite_ref-5" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-5"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>5<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>
